Backcountry guiding service has established itself as one of the leading guiding outfitters with decades of experience in stalking the game and trout species of New Zealand Since the 1980's. What this means for you is that a successful fly fishing guiding operation has proven and continues to prove success each year.

A limited number of tours allows Backcountry NZ nationally qualified guides to deliver private, personal and professional fishing to those that secure dates, meaning your experience is not one of many, but the only guided tour we are focusing on!

With the 23-24 season having been long sold out at most of the preferred lodges, we are happy to offer a 4 night/ 3 day guided fishing experience at the Red Cottages in Stavely with the legendary guide Nigel Birt.

This fishing experience can be combined with touring on the South Island or with fishing additional waters in another location (pending availability).

Stay in one of the farm's beautiful unique cottages designed for couples or a single angler looking for a comfortable Kiwi lux-farm experience. Along with access to the Woolshed movie theatre, perfect for cold drinks and TV after fishing.

The views of Mt Somers are gorgeous and this cottage generates a comfortable atmosphere of its own unique accord. A double-sided fire between the lounge area and the bedroom along with a modern but yet warm wooden ambience.

Soak in the double outdoor baths and explore the brightest stars that make up New Zealand's first starlight reserve.

Package includes:

• 4 nights accommodation for one or two anglers in a Cottage for single angler
  • Please contact us if for two anglers sharing accommodations/ meals
• 3 days guided fishing
• Fishing equipment is provided
• Full country breakfast
• Packed picnic lunches while on the water
• Pre-dinner canapés & drinks with prepared dinners

Prices are based on current exchange rates to the $NZD as of Sept 12, 2023 and are inclusive of New Zealand's 15% GST. The package price is for land costs only sharing a room and fishing guide.

Special Airfares on Air New Zealand available upon request and will be based on the best available fare for your required dates; upgrades to Premium Economy & Premier Business Class available. Packages provided on a first-come-first-served basis and are subject to availability at the time of booking.
