Fly Fishing needed a Reboot?

Recently (10/14/2019) the travel magazine CondeĀ“Nast posted an article claiming that fly fishing was getting a "sharp reboot." While this sounds great... we aren't sure that the sport needed this in the first place. However, it's always nice to see that fly fishing is still on the radar of larger publications... no matter the content.

The short article intends to bring a sense of adventure to the reader by focusing on the task of finding untouched waters and sleeping in shipping containers in remote places around the world. All good! While we invite anglers to search out the challenge and peace of fishing no matter the location, please know you will not be sleeping in containers in New Zealand when we send you!

We strive to combine fly fishing and the sense of getting away from it all with being comfortable off the river. Many of the trips we send clients on will also involve family and friends who have other interests. The country has incredible lodgings and activities outside of great fishing! And even if packing out in the bush for a few nights you should expect a pretty comfortable time provided by our hosts and guides.

Any publicity for the sport and for New Zealand fly fishing is awesome! We are not complaining. In fact, the article mentions a new owner in New Zealand (which we are very excited about): the Eleven Experience.

"Eleven has also taken over Cedar Lodge on New Zealand's South Island, giving fresh access to Makarora River trout."

Having bought Cedar Lodge recently we look forward to working with the Eleven Experience team in 2019/2020 and again leveraging Cedar as a fly fishing destination more frequently for our clients. The lodge is on the South Island and with access to a new fleet of helicopters coming down the way, will provide great coverage for heli-fishing in Otago, the Southland and up the West Coast.

If interested to go to Cedar, or perhaps combine a stay there with a larger travel or fly fishing trip to New Zealand, please don't hesitate to contact us!
