Riverview Lodge

Riverview Lodge, located in the beautiful Hanmer Springs area on the South Island, is a very comfortable and spacious Lodge, owned and operated for the last 20 years by John & Robin Gemmell. |
It is situated on a plateau overlooking the confluence of the Waiau, Percival and Hanmer Rivers and offers spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. John and Robin host no more than four couples at one time offering true Kiwi hospitality. |

John hs been a fishing guide for the past 20 years and Riverview Lodge is known for its Trophy Brown Trout that inhabit the crystal clear streams of the surrounding mountains. The average Brown Trout in the area is 6 lbs. Riverview Lodge has vehicle access to several private ranches, as well as helicopter fly-outs. |
The season starts in October and runs through until April. December, January and February being the best months for dry fly fishing. |

Hanmer Springs is a small alpine tourist resort and offers numerous activities for the non fishing guest, e.g. forest walks, thermal hot springs, pottery and gift shops, jet boating and bungy jumping. |
It is possible to hunt waterfowl at Riverview Lodge. The duck season opens May, June and July. Species are The New Zealand Paradise, Mallard, Grey and Shoveler. Limits are liberal |
