Heartland Lodge is a purpose built lodge on quiet, rural road on the northern edge of Twizel, the nearest town to Mount Cook, forty minutes away. We are within an easy reach of many well known back country rivers flowing from the Southern Alps through the Mackenzie Basin. A large number of excellent guides are available in the area and we can arrange their services.
The Lodge is situated in the middle of two acres of private grounds, well back from the road and is an ideal resting place for flyfishers. We provide bed and breakfast, dinner by arrangement and a self catering option in our comfortably furnished, self-contained loft apartment. All our meals are prepared from scratch from local or home grown produce and special diets and preferences can be catered for.
The guest rooms are large, well-appointed and tastefully decorated. Beds are super king size and can be split into twin beds. Extra bedding is available for the cooler months and fans are fitted for the hot summers here. Bedding is high quality Egyptian cotton. There is plenty of room for luggage and clothes in the wardrobes.
Your hosts, Mary and Jim, are a fund of local knowledge and can advise guests on how non fishing days can be spent viewing the sights of this beautiful part of the country.
