New Zealand Fly Fishing Guides

We highly recommend fishing with a professional fishing guide in New Zealand. As I review the photos and trip reports from our clients it appears they are catching bigger fish and having better fishing experiences today in New Zealand than 12 to 15 years ago, despite reports from most other fishing destinations that there are too many anglers and too much pressure on the streams and rivers.
I believe there are now more experienced fishing guides and better equipment to enhance the New Zealand fishing experience, compared to what it was like a decade ago.
We spend a great deal of time meeting with and getting to know the fishing guides in New Zealand. We also pay attention to the comments on guides in the numerous trip reports we receive from our clients.
We strongly support the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association and attempt to exclusively use their members to guide our clients --both while staying at one of the fishing lodges listed on our website --or on an independent basis.
The NZPFGA is New Zealand’s sole national fishing guiding organization and represents the interests of guided anglers and the guiding industry as a whole.

Rangitikei Anglers
In 1984, American born Jack MacKenzie pioneered the use of river rafting expertise to access remote and secluded fly fishing pools in New Zealand. Today, using a combination of helicopter, 4 wheel drive, and river rafting, Jack MacKenzie's Rangitikei Anglers offers the most experienced and complete fly fishing guide service focused on the superb trout streams and rivers of the South Central North Island. Guiding options include; fly in wilderness headwaters trips of 3 - 5 days, single day rafting fishing trips, and 4 wheel drive access on foot fishing. |

Unfortunately Jack MacKenzie has retired after 24 years of guiding and is not longer available. However, we have other guides that can offer a similar experience.
