As the "gateway to the fiords" Fiordland Lodge is a perfect base for a South Island fly fishing experience.

With its bright open architecture and picturesque setting perched on a hill that overlooks Lake Te Anau, Fiordland Lodge is a great location to base a fly fishing trip. First constructed in 2002, the lodge is built of natural timber and sits on rolling grasslands in a World Heritage Area. In addition to access to great fishing water, the lodge provides outstanding into the largest park in the country-  Fiordland National Park.

Ideal for those who wish to experience the South Island outside of Queenstown, Fiordland Lodge is set in close proximity to some of the most spectacular sites in the country and has quick access toward the Milford and Doubtful Sounds, the Te Anau Glowworm Caves and Fiordland National Park. The surrounding area is a taste to what one may expect to see throughout the fiordland- steep sided mountains violently gouged by massive glaciers. This land here rises directly from the water.

Upon entering the lodge one is met with large floor to ceiling glass windows that provide light and space in the main lodge sitting area. The lodge consists of ten comfortable guest rooms with king/twin beds and unimpeded views- including an Executive Suite, in addition to two Log Cabins which allow for separate and private lodging away from the main lodge.

Dining is taken in the main lodge with windows that allow one to enjoy their meal and look across the property to the lake and mountains beyond.

Anglers in this region will have access into the Fiordland National Park in addition to a few of the more famous rivers in the area (Mataura, Oreti, etc.) With excellent local guides that will transport anglers to/from the lodge, waters in this area will contain both Brown and Rainbows. There is water that can also be accessed via boat, providing a decent option for those who are less ambulatory, as well as areas in the park which are best accessed via helicopter.
