Riverview Farm Lodge

Fishing

Riverview Farm Lodge is located in the heart of the Southern Lakes on the famous Mataura River. It is an 800-acre working sheep farm owned and run by Liz and Sam Soper. Sam is the third generation to farm Riverview--Sopers have farmed the property since 1897. The homestead was established as a lodge in 1978.

Spacious, comfortable and private, the small capacity of just three guest rooms (each with a private bathroom) ensures very personalized attention --a feature that has become a hallmark of Riverview hospitality over the years. Liz's culinary skills and passion for things New Zealand guarantee guests will enjoy the freshest local seasonal produce and homemade delicacies at the family style dinners.

Four professional fishing guides provide for the angling requirements of the guests. All of the guides are Southlanders and have combined in excess of 35 years of guiding experience and a wealth of local knowledge.

The Mataura river flows through the property giving easy and exclusive vehicle access to some parts. In addition, there are 20 other rivers and streams within easy driving distance to provide the angler with an infinite variety of water and fishing experiences. Spectacular helicopter fly-ins to remote and seldom fished waters are also available.
